Philippines Day 7 – All day on the way and disappointed

CEBU -> OSLOB -> SIQUIJOR

I’m sitting on a bus going south in Cebu island to Oslob. Oslob is famous for a swimming and watching whale sharks that is a huge sea animal, so we’ll see. Hope I would be able to take a good pictures and videos. Next stop later today hopefully will be Dumaguete, city in Negros island, where we want to find a hotel for a next night. Or would it all happen differently? 🙂

The expectations just slightly met the reality. We did take a bus to Oslob, which is going every half an hour from South bus terminal operated by Ceres – large yellow buses with an aircon. Journey Cebu –  Oslob (whale shark watching) takes 3 hours. We went by bus going at 9,30 am and reached Oslob at 12,30 pm. And that was a problem because as we were told after our arrival, you can experience whale watching only in the morning until 12pm. So be careful you have to come in the morning until 11 am. Whale shark watching is not in Oslob but in a small village Tan-awan, where is only a few buildings and all keep same prices for the whale watching and also for rooms. You can find a simple room with aircon for 2000php or a dirty in a house for 1000php. But it’s not worthy at all. Therefore we didn’t want to stay there any longer, just to take a lunch. After the disappointment with whale sharks we had lunch which was even bigger disappointment, it was really disgusting, spaghetti Philippine style = spaghetti with ketchup?! Anyway we tried to find a place where to sleep and try it again in the morning. After a long looking for a bit nice and cheap room we gave up and sat on a first bus going away.

I were sitting on a bus again but that time we were going from Oslob to Liloan port, where we took a boat to Siquijor island. After a whole day in many kinds of transport (jeepney, bus, taxi, boat and I don’t know what else) we found a small hotel with cottages and a beer Pivo Praha. That beer is made near to Manila in a small brewery and the owner is a big fan of the Czech Republic. Pivo Praha tastes like a real Czech beer! Amazing what can be found on that such a small island in that unknown place. Hotel Blue Wave Inn was really nice and staff very very friendly but real professionals. I can only recommend
